SCHOOLS' FEEDBACK

“I thought the choice of repertoire and the way the pieces were unpacked was extremely stimulating and enjoyable. The girls I spoke to afterwards were struck by the power of the sound of the 4 instruments.
I thought the way the various colours of the instruments was demonstrated was wonderful.”
Head of Music, St. Michael’s RC Grammar, North Finchley

“As ever, a truly fantastic event and it was greatly appreciated by them all. I thought that they had the perfect understanding of young people's levels of concentration (only a touch more advanced than Primary...) and never stretched their listening capacity further than the optimum. Rosie, our composer was overwhelmed and is inspired to further this piece by some greater degree. What unbelievable luck to have Cavatina provide such glories for us! Thank you again and again for making my life (and piles of other lives) more wonderful.”
Woodhouse 6th Form College, N12

“There was a lot of pupil participation in which the children learnt a lot about the instruments being played; afterwards several children expressed an interest in learning to play an instrument. There was a good range of composers and styles of music. The whole concert was excellent and the musicians interacted with the children wonderfully. A memorable morning!”
“The performance was inspiring and the children were engaged”

"Thank you so much for funding this visit for us. As a small school, we would not be able to afford such high quality musical experiences for our children without your help.”

“An excellent interactive session! The children were involved and the interaction with them was pitched at absolutely the correct level. The music was lovely and varied to give an insight into different styles and tempos. Thank you!

A lovely group! They held the children’s attention brilliantly and played superbly.”

Pulford Lower School, Herts

"I would just like to thank you all once again for such a wonderful performance yesterday. I can't tell you how very appreciative we are at John Keble that you have come to visit us! Watching the children wave their hands and heads to the music and hearing their ideas and visions your music created in them was inspiring. I'm sure they enjoyed every minute!”

We were all delighted to be able to welcome CAVATINA back to our school on Monday. The children and staff enjoyed the Emperor String Quartet’s performances immensely. Pictures are coming flooding into my office and some are very good indeed. I am thrilled that you are happy to continue your relationship with the school. It is truly valued.

Dear Pamela

I would like to say thank-you for a wonderful concert at HBS yesterday.  The three musicians – Catriona, Gemma and Simon – were absolutely outstanding and, in addition to their superb musical performances, were able to talk about the music in a way that was informative, educational and extremely well directed.  The HBS girls were really inspired by the whole event which was attended by a range of students from years 7-13.  As you noticed, they were totally absorbed and attentive throughout.

It was also very special to have Paul Patterson at the concert and his explanation of his Soliloquy was, I thought, brilliant.  I was delighted that a couple of our really keen senior student composers were in the audience, as well as some of the younger ones who are already dabbling very effectively in this area of music making.

My one regret, as I said yesterday, was that more students did not attend, and I would hope that we could build on the experience to increase attendance at any future event.  We are intending to run HBS Music department trips to both H&H festival Cavatina concerts and hope to get some good attendance there (although there are some exam date clashes, unfortunately).  George Vass’s presence yesterday also added, I felt, an invaluable aspect of contact with the Arts world to the event.

The musicians also inspired my colleagues on the HBS staff, about 10 of whom attended yesterday’s concert, to such an extent that several are very keen to come to the concert and some of them booked their tickets within hours of your departure from HBS!

Once again, I would like to thank yourself, the trio - Catriona Scott, Gemma Rosefield and Simon Lepper - Paul Patterson and George Vass for bringing this excellent event to HBS.  I would be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to all those involved and have emailed a copy of this letter to you to help facilitate this.

Yours sincerely
Katherine Bamber
